There are many types of break in scenerios. The residents
can be home and awake, home and sleeping, gone on vacation or even out in the
yard. Regardless of the scenario, criminals want to get in and get out quickly with whatever they came for.
Criminals also want the path of least resistance, and a
noisy alarm or security sign will make some criminals think twice about
targeting your home. In two recent stories, residents left their homes without security systems or alarms installed. While these won't make your home invincible to an incident, they can help deter some crimes from occurring in the first place.
Glendale, AZ - Two would-be burglars were arrested early
Tuesday morning.
Azfamily.com reports around 6:00 A.M. a nearby neighbor called the police to
report the break-in. The residents of the broken house were not home at the
time of the incident.
Police surrounded the house and soon found two suspects
inside. The men were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.
Whether you’re away on vacation or away at the grocery
store, your home should not be left vulnerable to would-be thieves and
criminals. The next story involves a home intruder who broke into an empty home
and waited for the residents to arrive.
San Francisco, CA - On Sunday morning, a 34 year old man
was arrested for suspicion of home invasion, kidnapping and sexual assault.
SFGate reports the suspect, Jamala Morris broke into the
empty home and awaited the arrival of the mother and daughter. When the
daughter entered her bedroom, Morris ordered the daughter to get on the ground
as he covered her mouth with duct tape.
Hearing the corruption, the mother entered the room to
check on her daughter, only to be held at gunpoint and taped up as well.
Police said, a male resident came home moments later but
he panicked and escaped from the home. The suspect fled after taking many
items, including the mother’s wallet.
The panicked male resident returned home, freed the
mother and daughter and called police at 12:20 a.m. Sunday.
Police arrested the suspect at his home the next day because inside, authorities said they found the victim's wallet, a short-barrel
shotgun, duct tape and other evidence linking him to the crime.
Morris reportedly said that he had no connections with
the family and had only seen them in passing.
With burglaries occurring every 14.5 seconds across the
United States, investing in your home security is highly suggested as you can
potentially avoid dangerous situations as the one mentioned above. Again,
criminals want the path of least resistance and a sounding alarm is an
effective method for deterring most criminals.
