Leaving Your Home Secured

There are many types of break in scenerios. The residents can be home and awake, home and sleeping, gone on vacation or even out in the yard. Regardless of the scenario, criminals want to get in and get out quickly with whatever they came for.

Criminals also want the path of least resistance, and a noisy alarm or security sign will make some criminals think twice about targeting your home. In two recent stories, residents left their homes without security systems or alarms installed. While these won't make your home invincible to an incident, they can help deter some crimes from occurring in the first place.

Glendale, AZ - Two would-be burglars were arrested early Tuesday morning.

Azfamily.com reports around 6:00 A.M. a nearby neighbor called the police to report the break-in. The residents of the broken house were not home at the time of the incident.

Police surrounded the house and soon found two suspects inside. The men were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.

Whether you’re away on vacation or away at the grocery store, your home should not be left vulnerable to would-be thieves and criminals. The next story involves a home intruder who broke into an empty home and waited for the residents to arrive.

San Francisco, CA - On Sunday morning, a 34 year old man was arrested for suspicion of home invasion, kidnapping and sexual assault.

SFGate reports the suspect, Jamala Morris broke into the empty home and awaited the arrival of the mother and daughter. When the daughter entered her bedroom, Morris ordered the daughter to get on the ground as he covered her mouth with duct tape.

Hearing the corruption, the mother entered the room to check on her daughter, only to be held at gunpoint and taped up as well.

Police said, a male resident came home moments later but he panicked and escaped from the home. The suspect fled after taking many items, including the mother’s wallet.
The panicked male resident returned home, freed the mother and daughter and called police at 12:20 a.m. Sunday.

Police arrested the suspect at his home the next day because inside, authorities said they found the victim's wallet, a short-barrel shotgun, duct tape and other evidence linking him to the crime.

Morris reportedly said that he had no connections with the family and had only seen them in passing.

With burglaries occurring every 14.5 seconds across the United States, investing in your home security is highly suggested as you can potentially avoid dangerous situations as the one mentioned above. Again, criminals want the path of least resistance and a sounding alarm is an effective method for deterring most criminals.

Two Children Escape Home During Break-in

Pinson, AL - Two Pinson children managed to escape their home Monday as a burglar attempted to break in.

Tribune Interactive reports, a 14 year-old girl and her 9 year-old younger brother were home alone when they discovered a stranger trying to enter the house. Thinking on their feet, they immediately called their mother who in turn contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The children then escaped and ran to their neighbor’s home.

Authorities arrived to find 50 year-old William Thomas climbing out of a first floor window of the home. When Thomas discovered the authorities’ arrival, he dropped the stolen belongings and ran into a nearby wooded area. Authorities surrounded the wooded area and later captured and arrested the suspect.

Breaking Into Homes With An iPhone?

It’s the 21st century and we’re all guilty of taking advantage of innovative technology as it makes life easier, more convenient and even more entertaining. But a downside - technology can make life easier and convenient for criminals too.
SABRE has learned, there is a downloadable iPhone app with the capability of giving someone access to your home. Wired.com has shared an articled titled, The App I Used to Break Into My Neighbor’s Home where it is revealed how to break into someone’s home with the use of an iPhone.
Companies like KeyMe, along with competitors like KeysDuplicated and the Belgian Keysave, intend to solve the common problem of lockouts and lost keys, thereby creating apps that have the ability to scan your keys and copy them. With these apps, you scan and upload your keys, copy them and even send them to a friend who plans to visit.
This may sound like another cool and innovative idea until you realize how much of your home security is actually at stake. In the article, The App I Used to Break Into My Neighbor’s Home, the author provides details of how he was able to scan his neighbor’s keys, create a duplicate and re-enter his neighbor’s home without permission.
We can’t be oblivious to the new technology out there. SABRE is here to make sure you are prepared to handle such innovative changes with the SABRE Home Series.
For greater protection, you can start off with the WP-100 Wireless Home Protection System which includes a control pad, 8 security zones, a key fob remote control, a wireless motion detector, and two window/door sensors.

Man Arrested After Garage Break-in

New Castle, PA — Is your home fully secured? Are you missing anything? Think about it.

The garage is one of the most vulnerable entries of your home and the importance of its security is often forgotten. Not only does it hold all of your important tools, supplies and automobiles but when garages are connected to the home, a burglar gains access to everything inside.

Pennsylvania State police arrested an Ellwood City man after a garage burglary in Taylor Township.

NEW Castle News reports, a woman’s garage was broken into while she was sleeping around 6:00am on July 1st.

The woman was not aware of the incident until she saw her air compressor advertised for sale on the Lawrence County Community Bulletin Board two days after the break-in.

She contacted the police and arranged to set up the transaction to buy back her stolen property in an attempt to have the suspect arrested.

The suspect learned of the set up during the transaction and escaped before the police could arrest him. He was found and arrested last Wednesday with a burglary charge.

It took approximately two and a half weeks to catch the suspect after the break-in on July 1st. SABRE could help avoid situations like these with our alarms made to help scare intruders away.

The SABREGarage and Shed Alarm will help in keeping your garage safe and secure.

Like all of our Home Series Products, this Garage and Shed Alarm is very cost effective and it installs easily in minutes. The alarm is keypad operated, arms with a numeric code and comes with 2 sound modes, alarm sound to scare off intruders, and chime sound to inform you when someone is home.

Don’t forget about your garage when thinking about home security!
